Websites broadly fall in to three different categories, as described below.
-
-
A "lite site" is a small, entry-level website with static-content, typically with under 10 pages of content. This type of site is perfect to get your company an
Internet presence. Wombat Web can offer you:
- A professionally designed website with a choice of templates
- Up-to-date design with adherence to latest standards and accessibility guidelines
- Text content and photos/images
- Menu navigation system
- Submission to search engines
- Feedback form
- Free hosting and email for the first year

Most non-static websites are database driven, that is to say that the content of the website is stored in a database that can be updated. Databases
are powerful applications, allowing searches and updates in real-time. All Content Management Systems are database-driven. Another popular term for
a database-driven website is a dynamic website.
I use industry standard database products, mainly Microsoft™ SQLServer and MySQL. The industry standard
database language is SQL (Structured Query Language) and I can work with a number of SQL databases, or indeed other types of data-sources, e.g.
XML. Please contact me with your requirements - for the best advice.

Electronic commerce, as the name suggests, allows a website to take secure payments online. There are a myriad of e-commerce solutions available
to the merchant, both free and commercial. On all e commerce jobs I work exclusively with Wombat Web who have created, and continue to manage, a range of e-commerce enabled websites, and have
integrated with all the main merchant providers for clients situated world-wide, including WorldPay, DataCash, Netbanx and SecurePaytech. Wombat Web and myself
can also integrate your website with free services such as PayPal™.
The type of e-commerce solution you require depends on your business requirements, and the type of products you sell, be they tangible or
electronic. Wombat Web have created payment systems for all types of different products, including courses and workshops which require real-time
ordering and attendence lists.
Wombat Web can have also designed some sophisticated software for stock control, item sizing (for clothing for example), invoicing and reporting.
E-commerce sites also need to be secure. If your technical advisor hasn't been telling you about basket hacking and man-in-the-middle attacks, you need to
talk to Wombat Web. Having managed e-commerce websites for companies taking many millions of euros in transactions, Wombat Web are aware of the vulnerabilities, and
proactive support is a requirement for ensuring ongoing security.
